There's an old saying that goes: if you want something done right, do it yourself. Apparently, there are people out there who take that idea to the extreme of seducing your gay son to try and turn him straight. Based on the real-life murder of socialite Barbara Daly Baekeland, Savage Grace (2007) features Julianne Moore as Barbara Daly Baekeland, the wife of Brooks Baekeland (Stephen Dillane), heir to the Bakelite plastic fortune. A former model, her husband runs off with her son Antony’s (Eddie Redmayne) hot Spanish girlfriend Blanca (Elena Anaya), which leaves Barbara lonely and the already mentally troubled young man all sorts of messed up. Apparently deeply upset by Blanca's betrayal, Antony starts getting very close with a few handsome men. Uh, oh! Barbara fears that the teenager is becoming a homosexual and procures women for him in order to turn him straight again. When that doesn’t work, she seduces him herself! Surely that won't mess with his mind more than a man-on-man tryst, right 1960's America? Of course, like all conversion therapy attempts, this one ends in failure and resentment, culminating in Antony killing his mother with a kitchen knife. How true were the mama's boy scenes? According to one of Antony's real life gentleman callers, not at all, but that's very much a debated thing. What's not debatable is how delectable Eddie Redmayne is in this movie! Eddie shows his buns briefly while in bed with the adorable Unax Ugalde. Sorry mom, U can't compete with that action! You also can't compete with the fancy of Hugh Dancy, who we also see in bed with Eddie. He'd turn even the straightest dude into a Dancy boy! As for the real skin, Stephen Dillane delightfully bares all in a locker room scene where a bunch of fellas are doing some chatting as he towels himself off! We'll be mama, daddy, or whoever any of those dudes want us to be after watching Savage Grace
