Lady Chatterley (2006)

Following in the high heels of Danielle Darrieux in L’Amant de lady Chatterley (1955), Jayanthi in On top of Edakallu Hill (1973), Sheela in Bed of Arrows (1979), and Sylvia Kristel in Lady Chatterley’s Lover (1981) is Marina Hands in Lady Chatterley (2006), not to be confused with Ken Russell’s BBC series Lady Chatterley (1993) starring Joely Richardson and James Wilby. Under the direction of Pascale Ferran (who co-wrote the screenplay with Roger Bohbot), this R rated period piece offers a French interpretation of D.H. Lawrence’s novel “John Thomas and Lady Jane” (1927), an earlier version of his classic “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” (1928). The skinematic adaptation centers around Constance (Hands), who is married to paralyzed war veteran Sir Clifford Chatterley (Hippolyte Girardot). They live in the English countryside where the young wife spots a sexy gamekeeper named Parkin (Jean-Louis Coulloc’h). As you can guess, the two engage in a torrid romance. And who can blame the lady for being attracted to Parkin — especially when he shows off his big bare body. In fact, he displays his naked T&A 2 hours and 11 minutes into the pic. But not before the nude dude goes goes full frontal at the 02:05:25 and 02:07:17 marks. In other words, Monsieur Coulloc’h will satisfy your eyes when he serves up his baguette and buns! Perhaps that’s why this flick picked up César Awards for Best Film, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Writing, and Best Costume Design as well as a standing ovation in Mr. Man’s pantaloons!
