Old time Hollywood manly man Rudy Diaz had a career as a police officer in Los Angeles (and was actually one of the first officers to arrive on the scene of Marilyn Monroe’s suicide) before he retired from that grind and started working as a character actor. He channeled his former gig at several points throughout his career, however, acting as a police officer of various ranks in films like Pieces of Dreams (1970) and Charley Varrick (1973), plus on TV series like Alias Smith and Jones and Kolchak: The Night Stalker. When he wasn’t playing a cop, though he was frequently playing Native American characters, and his most memorable role came early on in his stint as an actor: as a character named Running Bear in the Clint Eastwood vehicle Coogan’s Bluff (1968). Sporting a loincloth in one scene while standing on a bluff, we see glimpses of his butt in the buff, and it’s hot as can be! And to think: had the wind only been a little stronger during filming that day, we may have gotten to see the whole thing!
