Our Staff Picks column is a new addition that takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version has a decidedly nude angle, as we suss out which films from a certain genre with great nudity. This week: French classics.
Why are we taking a look at French classics? Besides the fact that French movies tend to contain a lot of nudity, it's also Bastille Day! Let's check out sexy French films in which men got independent from their clothes.
Stranger by the Lake
Let's start with the one that we all know and love. I would be remiss not to include this psycho-sexual thriller about a beach where men go cruising and jealous lovers who act out their deranged desires. Things go wrong, but before they go wrong, they go OH so right. Pierre Deladonchamps and Christophe Paou have some hot beach nudity, both baring cocks. I really just wanted an excuse to share one of my favorite French nude scenes again. And, oh, would you look at that? Here's my excuse.

Who loves Tom Mercier? We do! He is stellar in this French film as an Israeli man who moves to Paris and tries to fit into his new culture. He struggles to adapt, but he yearns to fit in so he refuses to admit to anyone that he is a Jewish Israeli man. He befriends a French person and hopes that this will help him fit in more, but he is still a foreigner in a new land.
That dick tho! That dick feels like it would really fit into French culture. He looks so comfortable nude. And what is more French than that? I could be mistaken, but it feels like being beautiful and naked is tres chic in gay Paris!
Godard Mon Amour
Jean-Luc Godard is one of the most famous and inventive French directors - or directors, period - in cinema. This 2017 biopic pays tribute to the master of the French New Wave film movement by having Louis Garrel play Godard. He is directed perfectly in a scene in which he is actually full frontal in one very casual scene.
He isn't the only one! Matteo Martari has an amazing nude scene on the beach. He sits full frontal in a little chair, careful not to get sand all up in those nooks and crannies that we can see so well as he waits to shoot his scene. Cut! Well, it certainly looks like he is cut.
Paris 05:59: Théo Hugo
This romantic film packs quite a hot gay punch. We meet two hot gay men who meet at a club in Paris. They fall instantly in lust with one another and they let us see it in sexy, red-lit scenes that showcase their perfect figures. They have mind-blowing sex and basically change each other's lives with this sensual experience.
Buuuuut things get dramatic when they realize that they had unprotected sex and one of the men turns out to be HIV positive. Their sexy romance gets serious as the two young men live with life after an HIV diagnosis. One of them starts treatment and the other shows his support which allows the two young hotties to fall in love. Awwww! It's sweet AND sexy.
Little Gay Boy
The title really says it all. This film is about a little gay boy who is lost in the world, trying to reconnect with his estranged father. The film cleverly mimics the story of Jesus Christ, painting our hero as an angelic and hot young gay man who hopes that finding his father will help him with his purpose in life.
Gaëtan Vettier plays Jean-Christophe whose search leads him down a kinky path. We see him get spanked, peed on, banged by multiple guys, use a sex swing, and pose for nude photos. All in the name of family or something? Look, whatever helps someone find themselves is okay with me as long as I get to see them do it nude!
Sauvage/Wild
Let's end with one of the more controversial films to shock Cannes in recent years. This sexually-charged French film had people walking out of its debut showing at the festival, but it also had a lot of people talking. Felix Maritaud stars as a sex worker who longs for love. It doesn't matter how much kinky stuff he does or how much green he rakes in, deep-down all he yearns for is real affection.
While he is pining for real love, we are watching him do all kinds of wild things! From needle-play to threesomes, he does a lot of degrading work in the name of his job. I only say degrading because we know that he basically just wants to be cuddled by someone that he loves. He searches for love while we fall in lust with this hot, naked Frenchman.
