Our Staff Picks column is a new addition that takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version has a decidedly nude angle, as we suss out which films from a certain genre with great nudity. This week: mafia men.
American media loves the mafia. We glamorize life in the mob so much that people often seem to forget that these are dangerous men. That being said, they are also tough guys and we all love a tough guy. Want to see some beautiful bad boys? Then check out these worthwhile mob movies:
Once Upon a Time in America
Back in 1984, Sergio Leone gave us a gangster movie that has stood the test of time. The movie itself spans 30 years of storytelling as it follows a gangster named Noodles played by Robert DeNiro. He runs around Manhattan with his Jewish neighborhood friends, but they all get into crime during Prohibition in New York City. It's a nearly four hour epic!
Richard Foronjy plays a cop who is on their tale, but we get to see his tale when he is having sex with a woman. They take a picture of his ass to blackmail him. Hey, uh, can you mail that picture to me, too? Asking for a friend.
The Many Saints of Newark
The Sopranos is a beloved TV show, so it makes sense to make a prequel as a movie? Or does it? Regardless, Alan Taylor directed this film that takes us to Newark for the DiMeo crime family's breakup during a tumultuous time. Alessandro Nivola plays Dickie Moltisanti, Tony Soprano's uncle, and Michael Gandolfini takes on his father's role as young Tony.
It's a strange film, but it really isn't bad. Every Sopranos fan will get a kick out of it. Plus Alessandro's ass is all the rage.
Scarface
The 1983 remake of the classic gangster movie puts the Chicago mob in 80s Miami. Instead of Italians, there are Cubans. Brian De Palma took this Oliver Stone script and made an updated cult classic that is still beloved.
Look, I know that there is no male nudity in Scarface. But Scarface rules and Al Pacino is kind of hot as a Cuban drug dealer peddling in cocaine in 80s Miami. He also looks sexy when he sits in a hot tub. He has us wanting to wiggle down into the water with him and suck on his cigar. No, not the one he's holding...the other one below the belt.
365 Days
This Netflix sexcapade features a ton of nudity including cock from star Michele Morrone. You might not remember that the main character is technically in the Italian mafia. He's a mob boss who meets this woman and tells her that she can be his sort of captive sex slave for a year and he guarantees she will fall in love with him (Stockholm Syndrome) and if she doesn't, then she can go. Surprise: she does!
Is this one a stretch? Not really! The mob expands beyond Italian Americans, but if you need some more convincing then check out his ass:
