Prison Break (2005-2017)

Renowned for having one of the most compelling first seasons in TV history, Fox's Prison Break was a crime drama series created by Paul Scheuring, the screenwriter behind macho stuff like A Man Apart (2003) and Den of Thieves (2018). Lasting four seasons from 2005 to 2008 before coming back for one last season in 2017, the show centered around Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell): a man wrongfully convicted of the murder of the vice president's brother. With no chance of ever getting out, Lincoln's brilliant structural engineer half-brother Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) decides it's up to him to break his big bro out. Covering his body in tattoos that are secretly blueprints of the prison, Michael commits a crime so he can begin the breakout from the inside. But in prison, the best laid plans often go awry. From dealing with gross prisoners who want in on the breakout plan like T-bag (Robert Knepper), to dealing with ruthless prison guards like Brad Bellick (Wade Williams), Lincoln's quest for freedom was much more complicated than he initially thought. Season one ended with the breakout, at which point the show transitioned to one much more similar to The Fugitive than its own first season. Eventually they'll all end up together again in a foreign prison needing to pull off another escape, but the show never could recapture the magic of its first season. We never even got the magic of prison sex! Yes, for a prison show, there was a disappointing lack of dudeity throughout all five seasons. However, the titillating T.J. Ramini gets sexy and shirtless in season five, episode four. T.J. shows off his manly, muscular chest while shirtless in a prison cell in the Middle East. We bet he's been doing a lot of pushups!
