Review

When you look back at certain historical figures throughout history, it's hard to picture them as anything other than the picture or portrait in your head, but believe it or not, Charles Dickens probably got laid at least a few times in his life, so why not Ayn Rand?  Well, maybe it's a little easier to picture The Passion of Ayn Rand when she's played by legendary sex symbol Helen Mirren! This biopic follows the controversial and politically skewed author of the books "The Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged" through her rocky marriage to Frank O'Conner (Peter Fonda).  When Rand began to have an open affair with the much younger and equally married, Nathaniel Branden (Eric Stoltz), the pair never made any attempt to hide it to those around them.  They both politely asked their spouses if they were ok with them doing it all over town, which lead to a divorce for Ayn and a tortured spouse for Nathaniel, Barbara (Julie Delpy).  Nathaniel was a psychologist who became Rand's most ardent supporter looking to bridge the gap in her political philosophy of Objectivism into an actual movement.  Too bad Nathaniel, who was 25 years younger than her, couldn't keep it in his pants and began having another affair behind her back.  Either way, Ayn Rand and her lovers over the years definitely ruffled plenty of feathers, but the best take away from any of this is that Eric Stoltz has a caboose that should have a movement named after it as well because he pops that booty out while banging away on dame Helen Mirren
