Videodrome (1983)

David Cronenberg’s 1983 sci-fi flick Videodrome lives on in pop culture as a successful attempt to discuss media and violence. Does it hurt that it stars a sexy young James Woods? Definitely not! Max Renn (Woods) runs a second rate television channel and is always on the lookout for potential breakout hits. After happening upon a mysterious television station depicting scenes of gruesome violence, James decides to broadcast it on his own station, hoping to drum up some viewers. Max’s run in with the sexually adventurous Nicki (Debbie Harry) facilitates his decent into an unexpectedly dark and twisted world.
