Actors make strange choices. Like deciding to change the name of David Wheeler to the harder-pronounced David Thewlis. Maybe Dave prefers to have it the harder way. After joining a punk band, the Blackpool Brit attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He caught his big break in Mike Leigh’s aptly-titled flick Naked (1993) which includes David’s full frontal nudity! No wonder why he won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor! Through the years, the provocative performer proceeded to reveal his range on film (Seven Years in Tibet, James and the Giant Peach, Divorcing Jack, War Horse) and on TV (Dinotopia, Fargo, Landscapers). In the R-rated biopic Total Eclipse (1994), David portrays poet Paul Verlaine who has the hots for the alluring Arthur Rimbaud, played by the alluring Leonardo DiCaprio. As such, the skintastic actor exposes his abs, ass, shaft and sack as he feigns gay sex. Perhaps that’s why he’s called Remus in the film adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter classics. Sadly, it seems Dave’s wearing Potter’s Cloak of Invisibility because there’s nothing to see regarding his flesh in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010) and Part 2 (2011). Soon, Mr. Thewlis will be seen in the cinematic sequels Enola Holmes 2 (2022) and Avatar 3 (2024). Until then, we’ll have to imagine Professor Remus reaming us!
