What do British officer T. E. Lawrence (aka “Lawrence of Arabia”), American rocker Duane Allman, Korean model and actor Lee Eon, Australian skateboarder Shane Cross, and Canadian hockey player Luc Bourdon have in common? Unfortunately, they all lost their lives in motorcycle accidents. Alas, the same fate awaited Innsbruck-born actor Guntram Brattia. During his life, the talented Austrian appeared on several small screen series (Der Dicke, Doppelter Einsatz, Ein Fall für zwei, Hubert ohne Staller, SOKO Kitzbühel) and boob tube movies (African Race - Die verrückte Jagd nach dem Marakunda, Die Treuhänderin, Mord in Ludwigslust, Unser Reigen, Verkauftes Land) for Teutonic TV. We admit the titles of these shows are tongue-twisters, which may explain why we’d love to have tongued Guntram. No doubt, it was his sex appeal (and acting skills) that helped him win the Berlin International Film Festival’s Silver Bear award for his work in Rudolf Thome’s 2000 dramedy Paradiso - Sieben Tage mit sieben Frauen (otherwise known as Paradiso: Seven Days with Seven Women). Herr Brattia also collaborated with Herr Thome on the films Venus Talking (2001), Smoke Signs (2006), Du hast gesagt, dass du mich liebst (2006), and Pink (2009). The latter flick features Hannah Herzsprung, Florian Panzner, Christina Hecke, and Guntram’s fine flesh! As the shirtless gent texts, we get to see his nice chest and muscular arms. Needless to say, we’ll miss Mr. Brattia. But at least Mr. Man can still admire his assets on film (Mutterseelenallein), on televison (Tatort) and in his dreams. Auf Wiedersehen.
