Everyone loves Andrew Scott playing Tom Ripley on Netflix in the stunning series aptly named RIPLEY. In this black-and-white series, Andrew hangs out in his Speedo as he stirs up trouble by getting closer to wealthy young man named Dickie (hehehe) whose dad hired Tom to check in on. He infiltrates the young man's life and becomes so obsessed that things take a deadly turn - and he looks drop-dead gorgeous doing it.
While you might think that this is a remake of 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley, it is actually one of many Tom Ripley adaptations. The character Tom Ripley has appeared in several films and they are all based on the Patricia Highsmith books that birthed him.
Patricia Highsmith was a lesbian who wrote a great deal of early gay novels including the original story for Carol. She also created the homoerotic bad boy named Tom Ripley who begins his life of crime with a schoolboy crush gone horribly wrong. He is the ultimate gay villain, but at least he was created by a gay person (and played by a gay person in the most recent version of his story).

The sexiest version of Tom Ripley is still The Talented Mr. Ripley because it dares to showcase Tom's lust-filled obsession with Dickie. It's easy to see why in this film: Jude Law plays Dickie and he is seductive as sin. Between Damon's dick smooshed in a neon Speedo to Jude Law's bathtub chess scene, The Talented Mr. Ripley is still the finest portrayal of Tom Ripley we've ever seen.
