James Sweeney, best put, is an adorable renaissance man who fills up the stat line of talent more than most his age. James has been somewhat of an indie darling dating back to his start in 2010 when he started to produce, write, and direct a series of short films in New York. He acted as a bit of a one man band behind the lens, but rolled in some semi-famous enough circles that when you look back on his shorts like Hello, My Name is Abigail (2012) and Normal Doors (2015), there is some legit star-power in there like the ever adorable Milana Vayntrub. With his pithy dialogue and Gilmore Girls pacing of said dialogue, it's no surprise that feature films came a calling for James and he was then able to secure some funding and a release for his first full-length flick Straight Up (2019), in which he not only wrote, produced, and directed, but also stars as the lead Todd! James basically plays a gay man who decides that he might want to try dating and/or being straight and stumbles across someone who might be his emotional soulmate, despite the fact that she is a girl and he is clearly a gay man. While James helmed the camera, he definitely didn't shy away from putting himself in some awkward and sexy situations in his first feature, while showing off that long and lean body of his in the process. This Sweeney is a shirtless sweetie when trying to make love to his girlfriend for the first time as well as a couple of other sticky and fumbling forays in the bedroom. Hopefully James keeps churning out ideas because we are certainly paying attention to him now!
