Lloyd Bridges was the guy with blond hair and a raspy voice that everyone was falling for over the course of his entire career. He comes from San Leandro, California, and was born in 1913 when Hollywood was just getting started. His parents owned a movie theater, so he grew up watching movies in California. He worked on Broadway. for a while, but headed back to Los Angeles where he worked under contract to Columbia. He was a master of change who adapted continuously to the changes in the entertainment industry over several decades. He began his career in the 1930s after he made his debut in 1936's Freshman Love. He continued to act in a series of films for young people until he started acting in westerns in the 50s. He almost had his career taken away from him when former dealings with the Communist Party came under question during the HUAC hearings. Now that's some trivia! Luckily, he managed to keep working. He famously played Steve McCroskey in Airplane! and Airplane II: The Sequel. He has also starred in very famous 80s and 90s comedies such as Hot Shots!, Mafia!, Seinfeld, Blown Away, Mr. Bluesman, Honey, I Blew Up the Kid, Capital News, Joe Versus the Volcano, Winter People, Cousins, Weekend Warriors, and so many more. He kept himself busy making us laugh and smile. His sexiest role was in the 1969 film The Happy Ending where he flaunted his tanned and toned body in a white Speedo. Sadly, Lloyd passed away in 1998, but he has left behind an amazing career to remember him by.
