Bodybuilder turned actor Lou Ferrigno began his career by playing the underdog to Arnold Schwarzenegger in the documentary Pumping Iron (1977), and his real life more or less continued this trend. That's not to say that Ferrigno doesn't have an enviable career in his own right, just that he forever played an also ran to the man who would be governor of California. Ferrigno's big acting break came the same year that Pumping Iron was released when he landed the title role in the hit TV series The Incredible Hulk, playing the mean green alter ego to Bill Bixby's David Banner.
Film stardom remained elusive for Ferrigno, despite headlining some movies for Cannon Films like the Conan the Barbarian knock-off Hercules (1983) and its sequel The Adventures of Hercules (1985). Ferrigno has also played security guards in both Hulk films made in the 2000s, but to see this muscle man at the peak of his physique here on Mr. Man, check him out in another Cannon Films classic, Sinbad of the Seven Seas (1989)!
