Pierre Richard is a true gem of classic French cinema. An actor and comedian, Richard has been called one of the greatest and most talented French comedians of the last fifty years by fellow famous countrymen Louis de Funès and Gérard Depardieu. Talk about being in rare air, Pierre! Named after an old French actor, Pierre hails from Valenciennes, France, Pierre studied acting in Parisbefore hitting the stage, but really blew up thanks to his comedic team up with Victor Lanoux. Great at farce and possessing a tight arse, Pierre had been acting on screen since 1959, but really got his career going in he late 60's with comedies like An Idiot in Paris (1967), Very Happy Alexander (1968) and Distracted (1970), which marked Pierre's directorial debut. In his prime, Pierre Richard had a body that most comedians could only dream of - and he wasn’t afraid to show it off! Never was this more evident than in the orchestra player ends up a secret agent comedy, The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe (1972). A humorous tale of deception, Tall Blond Man casts Richard as François Perrin, a violinist who unexpectedly finds himself in the middle of a power struggle between two important government spies, second-in-command Bernard Milan and his chief, Louis Toulouse. In an effort to sabotage his power grab, Toulouse, through a conduit, convinces Milan that the violinist is a master spy with all manner of secrets about him. If the confusing plot turns you off, Richard’s frequent nudity will turn you right back on. Baring chest, back, butt, and a barely covered French fry, there’s a lot more to love about Pierre Richard than his comedic chops! We just wish Pierre would have put that peen in the air! That flick had a sequel made in 1974, but Pierre didn't go pantsless in the second one. Sequels always disappoint! After taht flick had us playing with ourselves, Pierre was hired to entertain a kid as a human toy in Le Jouet (1976) which would later get remade into the Richard Pryor vehicle The Toy (1982). But Pierre never bothered to try to make it in America. He was content pumping out huge comedies back home, like The Twin (1984), One Can Always Dream (1991), A Chef in Love (1996), and Mr. Stein Goes Online (2017). These days, he's still acting in stuff like Umami (2022), and owns his own winery. Not to be whiny, but Mr. Richard, we're gonna need to see that dick!
