The entire world was charmed by Ryan Gosling at The Oscars. When he sang one of the two Oscar-nominated songs from Barbie. He sang "I'm Just Ken" - and he really did sing it - and we felt that he was truly Kenough in that hot pink suit and sexy stunner shades.
Where does the Oscar nominee go after delivering one of the best film performances of 2024 by not taking himself seriously and by showing off his chiseled abs and strong jawline? Well, he goes back to being serious, rugged, manly...and sexier than ever.
SXSW has been in full swing and critics are raving over Ryan Gosling's performance in a romantic western. Romance and Western in the same sentence? Is this going to be gay? After Brokeback Mountain, The Power of the Dog, and Strange Way of Life, I am now fully primed to believe that cowboys and hot men make a sexy gay movie. I know that I'm not alone in that!
Well, it is unfortunately not innately gay. That's okay as long as he's still hot. By all accounts, he is! The Fall Guy is Ryan's latest starring role that was inspired by a 1980s TV show. Between Jake Gyllenhaal in Road House and The Fall Guy, sexy 80s macho men seem to be back in a big way!
Gosling spoke a lot at the SXSW screening and he spoke glowingly about The Fall Guy, letting the audience know that this project was extremely fun for him to be in. He also marveled at the stunt work in the movie!
Before that, he told the crowd, “I want to say, I’m Ryan Gosling and I did almost none of my stunts in this movie." He then took a moment to honor his stuntman, Logan Holliday, who deserves all the praise in the world. Apparently, Holliday even broke the Guinness World Record for the amount of canon rolls that he did in this very film.
The director David Leitch said the same thing about the film meaning a lot to him because he was a stuntman for several years before becoming a director, best known for his stylized action flick Atomic Blonde. Leitch knows how to direct sex and action, so I can't wait to see the action in The Fall Guy!
Now that we know he flexes his muscles and his stuntman is something to look at, let's talk about the romance portion of The Fall Guy. Emily Blunt is Ryan's co-star and the crowd went wild for their storyline. Blunt is coming off of her Oppenheimer high where she did not go nude. That makes me think that there may not be much nudity in this film, but just because the woman doesn't go nude doesn't mean the man won't. Ryan is no stranger to nudity, so there's no reason to lose hope.
