The annual tradition is upon us: who will be crowned People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2024? The winner is projected to be announced later today, so let's go ahead and speculate wildly. Who do you think the winner will be and who do you WANT the winner to be? Let's talk about it.
People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive is a time-honored tradition from 1985 when Mel Gibson was the first to earn the title. Since then, one man has been named annually as the Sexiest Man Alive, with notable winners including Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, Denzel Washington, Jude Law, Brad Pitt, Pierce Brosnan, George Clooney, Idris Elba, and more. What an amazing list!
In 1993 Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere were named the Sexiest Couple Alive...did you even remember that they were a couple? No matter what we think about dubbing a couple instead of just one person, you have to admit that one thing is for sure: Richard Gere deserves the title! Today, yesterday, and forever. I mean, just look at Richard Gere in the buff. Awoooooga!
Projected winners for this year include Pedro Pascal, Jeremy Allen White, Glen Powell, and birthday boy Ryan Gosling (today is really his birthday, so that would be an amazing birthday present). Some people even speculate that an athlete like Travis Kelce might win.
I am leaning towards Ryan Gosling myself, but this does feel like Glen Powell's year. Glen Powell has been everywhere and his sex appeal alone has helped sell several films. In fact, the sexual chemistry between him and Sydney Sweeney in the hit romantic comedy Anyone But You essentially reignited interest in romantic comedies at the box office. It takes genuine star power and sexual appeal to do that!
I can't rule out Jeremy Allen White either. The star of The Bear has been making men and women cream their jeans with his greasy-haired, passionate, bad-boy perfectionist chef character. He also starred in this year's tragic wrestling drama, showing that he can do more than scream from a kitchen. His hot modeling sessions for Calvin Klein had us all saying "yes, chef".
The winner isn't always someone who had a good year in the spotlight. Last year the winner was Patrick Dempsey. The Grey's Anatomy star has been on TV for over a decade, but he finally got his flowers. That is a testament to how tight and right he keeps it!
