Arliss Howard is an actor (Medium, Plain Clothes), writer (Big Bad Love), director (Dawn Anna), and Hollywood hubby (Debra Winger). The multitalented guy was born in Independence, Missouri which may explain his independent spirit. After studying at Columbia College, Arliss brought his onscreen sexiness to The Lightship (1985) and The Ladies Club (1986). We’re sure a lot of ladies and men wanted to join any club Arliss was a part of, especially once they saw him portray Private Cowboy in Stanley Kubrick’s war drama Full Metal Jacket (1987). Mr. Man loves a man in uniform just as much as he loves a man out of uniform! Alas, Arliss frustrated us when he kept covered up in the films Tequila Sunrise (1988); To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar (1995); The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997); and The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009). The same can be said for his portrayals of clothed statesman John C. Calhoun in Amistad (1997), businessman John Henry in Moneyball (2011), and MGM founder Louis B. Mayer in Mank (2020). Ironically, it was on the small screen where we got to see the prolific performer’s flesh. While playing Truman Burrell on season six of the vampire saga True Blood (2016), Arliss finally doffed his duds. Nothing scary about that! HBO’s mega-hit features Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgård, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, and Mr. Howard’s hairy chest. As the skintastic actor changes his clothes, we get to see his perfect pecs! Needless to say, Arliss is pure bliss!
