Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-1998)

Based on the 1992 Kristy Swanson film of the same name, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the rare example of a show that was so much more successful than the movie it was based on, most people don't even know it wasn't an original idea. Kicking off in 1997 and lasting all the way to 2001, future MCU master Joss Whedon first developed his trademark self-referential humor with this teen take on the monster hunting genre. In the role that would make her an icon, Sarah Michelle Gellar is Buffy,a pretty typical sixteen-year-old blonde babe living in Sunnydale. She seems pretty normal, and so does her suburban hometown, but it ends up Buffy is the slayer, a super badass babe destined to kick the crap out of the creatures of the night and various other supernatural scary beings who happen to reside in her strangely ghoul filled town. When Buffy’s not slaying sinister monsters or getting mentored by her trainer Giles (Anthony Head), she hangs out with her besties Willow (Alyson Hannigan) and Xander (Nicholas Brendon) sleeps with the kind vamp Angel (David Boreanaz) and battles with the snarky vampire Spike (James Marsters). Mixing a monster of the week format with a mythology and lore strong enough to inspire comic books and spinoffs, Buffy was beloved by lesbians, horror fans, and teen TV addicts alike. But for Mr. Man, it was the buff boys slaying us with some skin that always had us coming back for more. Years before Twilight (2008) had the normies thirsting for some boy bloodsuckers, David and James had us hoping they'd make us go bump in the night. At one point, David ends up dumped on the ground and we get a quick peak of his bare dumper. If only we got full frontal. Forget slaying, we're interested in doing some laying with that macho monster man! Since the first episode of Buffy David showed up in, we were hoping we'd see him in the buff!
