Biography

There’s no dancing around the fact that Charles Dance is smoking hot! Standing at 6’ 3”, the distinguished Englishman is a tall glass of Pimm’s! He usually plays villains on the big (Dracula Untold, Terry Pratchett’s Going Postal) and small (Game of Thrones) screens yet he was also cast as the kindhearted dad in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016). Through the years, Charles has portrayed real life people, including filmmakers D. W. Griffith in Good Morning, Babylon (1987) and Robert J. Flaherty in Kabloonak (1994); code-breaker Alastair Denniston in The Imitation Game (2014); journalists Ian Fleming in Goldeneye: The Secret Life of Ian Fleming (1989) and William Randolph Hearst in Mank (2020); and regals such as Prince Eddy in Edward the Seventh (1975); the Duke of Buckingham in Henry VIII (2003); Lord Kitchener in The King’s Man (2021); and Lord Mountbatten in The Crown (2019-2020), for which he scored an Emmy nod and SAG Award! Mr. Dance also nabbed a BAFTA TV Award nomination for his performance in The Jewel in the Crown (1984) and took home a Best Acting Ensemble Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Gosford Park (2001). Indeed, he received another SAG for the latter. Appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2006, Charles is one esteemed thespian! But that doesn’t mean he’s above getting down in a leopard-print blouse, fishnets and a skintight miniskirt for the comedy Ali G Indahouse (2002). When Charlie shakes his booty, we can see why he’s called Mr. Dance!
