Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)

Following in the frantic footsteps of The Fast and the Furious (2001), 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Furious 7 (2015), and The Fate of the Furious (2017) is Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019). Also known as Hobbs & Shaw, the action flick sees the return of Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in their titular roles. This time around, Deckard Shaw (Statham) must rescue his sister Hattie (Vanessa Kirby) in order to take down the cyber-enhanced terrorist Brixton Lore (Idris Elba). Too bad Deckard and Hattie’s mum Queenie (Helen Mirren) can’t help due to the fact that she’s locked up. Nevertheless, all hands are needed on deck to defeat Brixton — especially since he’s threatening the world with a deadly virus. Can they contain the disease and catch the culprit? And, more importantly, will anyone shed their threads in the process? Even though this mega-hit scored at the box office, it’s a bit stingy when it comes to flashing flesh. At least, The Rock rocks our world when he shows off his impeccable pecs. Of course, we’d rather have seen Mr. Johnson’s Johnson! Despite the lack of skin, this movie managed to spawn the spinoff series Fast & Furious Spy Racers (2019-2021) as well as the big screen sequels F9 (2021) and Fast X (2023). Suffice it to say, Mr. Man is waiting with masturbated breath to see what’s next!
