George Coe's storied career goes all the way back to the 60s and there is no doubt in our minds that there is something you've seen this beloved character actor in at one point in your life. Looking at his resume makes other actors green with envy because he was pumping out hit after hit after Oscar Winner, all while looking good doing it. His first big feature film was in 1975's mega hit The Stepford Wives and in the same year took on a role in the long running TV series The Doctors. As his fame was already on the rise, it's hard to classify his next big role as a breakout, but it certainly bumped him into the upper echelon of the fame game as he starred opposite Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep in Best Picture winner Kramer vs. Kramer (1979). After that he had his choice of acting gigs on the big and smaller screen alike, so he took it and ran, becoming an insanely successful character actor along the way with roles on Hill Street Blues, Family Ties, Saturday Night Live, Golden Girls, Max Headroom... Good Lord, just use your imagination at this point! If it was on TV in the 80s, he was on it. If it was a box office hit, he played the quirky uncle, father figure, or stern disciplinarian judge. Shockingly enough though, he comes our way with a Nude-Comer debut much later than most as he drops his pants to moon the crowd at his own wedding in the 1989 comedic drama Cousins. Sadly enough, George passed away in 2015 at the ripe old age of 86, but not before lending his voice talents to another much beloved, albeit regularly abused butler, Woodhouse on the animated series Archer to close out a storybook acting career. You will be much missed George Coe and will be remembered fondly by all!
