Biography

Aaaaay, it’s safe to say Henry Winkler will never fully live down his legacy as Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli — the cool, hot guy — from Happy Days (1974-1984), Mork & Mindy (1978), Laverne & Shirley (1976-1979), and Joanie Loves Chachi (1982). It’s worth noting, though, that Henry put in a lot of work before and after the ABC sitcom’s long run. After studying theater at Emerson College and the Yale School of Drama, Hank worked on stage and in commercials before landing a bit part on The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1973). Next came a role in the 1950s-set indie flick The Lords of Flatbush (1974) with Perry King and a newcomer named Sylvester Stallone. Once Winkler’s successful stint on Happy Days ended, he had his own series Monty (1994) and recurring roles on other shows (The Practice, Third Watch, Parks and Recreation, Childrens Hospital, Royal Pains). The boob tube babe also played Dr. Stewart Barnes on Out of Practice (2005-2006); Professor Nathaniel Zib on Hero Factory (2010-2013); Mr. Rock on Hank Zipzer (2014-2016); Barry Zuckerkorn on Arrested Development (2003-2019); and Gene Cousineau on Barry (2018-2022), for which he won an Emmy! On the big screen, Henry popped up in Scream (1996) and The French Dispatch (2021). In between, he could be seen in Adam Sandler’s Little Nicky (2000), Click (2006), and The Waterboy (1998). The latter features Kathy Bates, Rob Schneider, and the tattooed ass on Henry’s body double! Hey, Mr. Winkler, what’s the chance of seeing your tush and tinkler?
