Jason Watkins is a Shropshire lad who became an actor by way of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. But it’s his Royal Anatomy of Arts that interests us. Like his alluring alum Sean Bean, Tom Burke, Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes, and Mark Rylance, the esteemed thespian will doff his duds for his craft. Since graduation, Mr. Watkins has appeared on stage (Frozen, Rafts and Dreams), on film (High Hopes, Tomorrow Never Dies, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Nativity!), and on TV (Conviction, Funland, Hold the Sunset, Prisoners’ Wives, W1A). Through the years, the small screen staple revealed his range on the soap opera EastEnders (1987-1988); the supernatural dramedy Being Human (2009-2012); the mystery series Psychoville (2011); the sci-fi comedy Dirk Gently (2010-2012); the supermarket sitcom Trollied (2011-2018); and the crime drama McDonald & Dodds (2020-present). In between, he could be seen alongside Tom Hardy in The Virgin Queen (2005) and Taboo (2017). Watkins won a BAFTA for the miniseries The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies (2014) and a SAG Award for his 2019 performance in The Crown (2016-present). If that’s not impressive enough, Jason also picked up a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for A Servant For Two Masters (2000). Of course, he won us over with his portrayal of a gay wedding planner in Confetti (2006). The R-rated romp features Jimmy Carr, Olivia Colman, and Jason’s junk!
