Biography

The glasses, the bit of balding, and the big goofy grin – John Billingsley has all the requirements needed to be the nerd-crush of your dreams. Born in Media, Pennsylvania but raised in Weston, Connecticut, John studied theatre at Bennington College before making the most auspicious of auspicious screen debuts. Yes, after doing a few forgettable movies like Seven Hours of Judgement (1988) and Shredder Orpheus (1990), John resorted to making an uncredited appearance as a customer in the 1991 Nintendo of America Customer Service Training Video. While that was a low point, John didn't exactly become an overnight success soon after. He did one offs of episodes of Northern Exposure, The Practice and Felicity in the late 90's. But after playing Timmy the Geek on an episode of The X-Files, John started landing recurring roles. First came playing Professor Miles Ballard on NBC's short lived girl who talks to the dead drama The Others, but in 2001 John landed the role he will forever best be known for: Dr. Phlox on Star Trek: Enterprise. John inspired fans to dream of playing doctor with this foxy Phloxy. Phlox’s species is Denobulan, but many folks from the human species wanted a bonin’ with this Denobulan. Luckily one episode includes this morphed-faced masterpiece taking off his shirt, giving fans plenty of looks at the alien chest. Apparently sexy does exist on other planets. And while we never saw the Phlox cox, we can only imagine that his alien appendage would be slightly strange, and totally sexy. Fans of sucking will be pleased to see Billingsley again when he plays the role of Coroner Mike Spencer on HBO’s True Blood. We’d love to take a bite out of this sexy succubus. Trekkies and vamp-fans alike would love to get flirty and dirty with this nerdy birdy. Not quite done with his career, John was also the president's brother Terrence Steadman on Prison Break, Homeland Security tech expert Michael Latham on 24, Culper Ring member Samuel Townsend on TURN: Washington's Spies and Dr. Lloyd Madden on Masters of Sex. Odds are, whatever show you're into John will appear at some point. That's something to look forward to. If you're into the kinda quirky, kinda sexy, scientist type, John Billingsley fits the bill quite swimmingly.
