Character actor Jon Gries has been a fixture in cult cinema since the very beginning of his career. Every time you turn around, he manages to land a plum supporting role in a film that's more or less ignored by audiences when first released, but ends up becoming a huge cult favorite. Just a few examples of this include his roles as Lazlo Hollyfeld in Real Genius (1985), King Vidiot in Joysticks (1983), Detective Montoya in Running Scared (1986), The Wolfman in The Monster Squad (1988), Rob Sundheimer in Ed and His Dead Mother (1993), and of course, Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite (2004). His chameleonic ability to play a multitude of weirdos and social outcasts has allowed him to amass a substantial fan base who admire and appreciate his work while the rest of the world continues to just sleep on his talent. With well over a hundred credits to his name going all the way back to the 1970s, it's likely you may have seen Jon in some of the hit films he was in as well like Get Shorty (1995), Men in Black (1997), and Taken 2 (2012)! Or perhaps you're just jumping on the Jon Gries bandwagon after catching his terrific supporting turn on the HBO series The White Lotus in 2021! Jon has matured into a grandzaddy, showing off his fit physique poolside in his bathing suit while chatting up Jennifer Coolidge!
