Cool it now? But Mr. Telephone Man, how can we when cutie Keith Powers is on the scene? And that about does it for the amount of songs Mr. Man can remember that were done by New Edition. And why, you may be wondering, is Mr. Man harkening back to the mid-‘80s for musical references for Keith? Because this is one of the places you can see him partially naked. He played Ronnie DeVoe in the mini-series The New Edition Story(2017), and gets caught with his pants down (boxers on, shirt off). He’s also shown off a rather fine physique with toned muscles when he played Jordan on Famous in Love from 2017-2018, and as Cameron Drake in the Netflix movie #realityhigh (2017). While these are the projects where you can see Keith in stages of undress, they are by no means his only times in front of a camera. The Sacramento native started out as a model when he was nine years old, switched to sports, then went back to modeling after high school. He’s been featured in campaigns for Skechers, Target, and Guess; walked the runway for Calvin Klein; and was in a GQ editorial feature. He made his feature-film acting debut as Quentin in House Party: Tonight’s the Night (2013), then grabbed the role of Dr. Dre’s younger brother Tyree Crayton in Straight Outta Compton (2015). He played Patrick in Before I Fall (2017) with Zoey Deutch, Major Greenwood in Amazon’s The Tomorrow War (2021) with Chris Pratt, Keith in Justine Bateman’s Violet (2021) with Justin Theroux, Ugly in Door Mouse (2022) with Famke Janssen, and had a part in McG’s Uglies (2023) with Joey King. Hmmm…. Ugly? Uglies? So much mis-casting going on in Hollywood…
