Homoerotic filmmaker Kenneth Anger gets us hot under the collar — and steamy in our jeans! The experimental director, Hollywood author, occult dabbler, LSD user, and uninhibited actor made a name for himself in the underground world of cinema. Born in Santa Monica, the California kid began making movies when he was just ten years old. Once he grew up and out, the openly gay guy became part of the countercultural scene. As such, he could be seen hanging out with writer Tennessee Williams, pop stars Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull, sexologist Alfred Kinsey, and musicians Keith Richards and Jimmy Page. Needless to say, Ken was all the rage! No wonder he penned the gossip books “Hollywood Babylon” in 1965 and “Hollywood Babylon II” in 1984. By 1996, Ken was given the Maya Deren Award from the American Film Institute in New York for his body… of indie flicks. These short films include Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome (1954), L’Histoire d’O (1961), Scorpio Rising (1963), Invocation of My Demon Brother (1969), Lucifer Rising (1972), Patriotic Penis (2004), My Surfing Lucifer (2007), and Foreplay (2008). Of course, Kenneth is best known for his Fireworks (1947). The 15-minute movie features Gordon Gray, Bill Seltzer, and Ken’s bare chest! Shot in black and white, the sadomasochistic pic shows more than fifty shades of gray when two sailors torture a topless Mr. Anger in a very bizarre way. We won’t give you any spoilers. Just know the heated scene may cause some fireworks in your pants!
