The marvelous Michael Zegen grew up a Jersey boy, and fittingly, made his on-screen debut on the Late Show with David Letterman in 2002, a New York staple (he played Dwight, the Troubled Teen in a skit). He slowly made his way up the actor’s ladder, appearing in episodes of The Sopranos and Love Monkey, before landing the regular role of Damien Keefe on the FX series Rescue Me from 2004-2011. On the big screen, he started out with smaller films like Bittersweet Place (2005) and The Girl Next Door (2007), then moved on to bigger roles in bigger films like playing Eric in Adventureland (2009) with Kristen Stewart, Garcin in The Box(2009) with Cameron Diaz, Benji in the Greta Gerwig written film Frances Ha (2012) with Adam Driver, Maurizio in Brooklyn (2015) with Saoirse Ronan, and Steve in The Stand In (2020) with Drew Barrymore. The dark-haired dish took roles as Andy Sussman in How to Make It in America in 2011, Randall Culver in The Walking Dead in 2012, Joe in Girls in 2014, and Benny Siegel in Boardwalk Empire from 2011-2014, but his biggest TV fame, though, has come from playing Joel Maisel in the Amazon series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.It’s also where you can catch a glimpse of what’s under the wardrobe, particularly when he wakes up in Vegas after a night of debauchery, married and wearing only boxers. Gently toned and lovely to look at, Michael reminds us why the word marvelous is in the show’s title.
