Rhymefest (real name Che Smith) is most well-known for winning a Grammy for co-writing the hit track Jesus Walks with Kanye West. That attention helped launch his career in the music world, but Rhymefest wanted to use his platform for good so he ran for city council in Chicago. He lost a close election but was able to affect some change. He went on to win an Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe for his collaboration with John Legend and Common on the hit song Glory. While he mostly is known as a rapper and producer, Rhymefest has dabbled in acting and has worked on several soundtracks.
