If your grandfather was a film buff, he probably talked your ear off about the handsome actor Richard Arlen. While sipping lemonade and vacantly staring from the front porch, ol’ granddad probably gripped his cane tightly as he told you about how a motorcycle accident, a broken leg, and a chance encounter with a sympathetic director led to Richard becoming an actor. In between his war efforts in World War I and World War II, the suave and handsome fellow carved out a respectable career, one that lasted over half a century. While most know Richard for his roles in the hit westerns Buffalo Bill Rides Again (1947), Hidden Guns (1956), Wagon Train (1957) and Yancy Derringer (1958), Mr. Man knows Richard for his almost same-sex smooch with his hunky co-star Charles “Buddy” Rogers in the silent film classic Wings (1927).
