Our Staff Picks column is a new addition that takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version has a decidedly nude angle, as we suss out which films from a certain genre with great nudity. This week: Spanish films!
I recently wrote specifically about gay scenes in Spanish TV shows and movies, but I found so much Spanish male nudity when I was researching the topic (my work is so hard, I know). I am widening the net and focusing on great Spanish films with nudity from Almodovar and beyond.
Baton Rouge
Rafael Monleon directed this 1988 film about gigolos. The 80s loved gigolos from Hollywood to Madrid. Antonio Banderas seduces a wealthy woman and works with the woman's psychiatrist to murder the woman's husband and frame her for the murder. As you can imagine, the plan isn't great and a lot goes wrong. Some things go right. We see Banderas' baton when he gets into a bathtub!
Rapture
If you love Spanish cinema, then you already know about this cult classic. Ivan Zulueta's critically acclaimed 1980 film only grew in popularity with the invention of home video later in the decade. Eusebio Poncela stars as a horror director addicted to heroin whose relationship with his muse becomes destructive. He is mysteriously blackmailed with secret recordings of meetings that he had with an ex's cousin regarding experimental methods of filmmaking. These secret recordings and the methods mess with the director's mind, worse than the drug that he uses to escape stress.
Eusebio is super handsome, so it should be no surprise that when he lays nude with his dick out he becomes even more handsome on camera. His cock is rapturous!
Todo Menos La Chica
Todo Menos La Chica roughly translates to "All But the Girl" and that is what this comedy promises. We see A LOT of male nudity! Some chicas throw a party filled with game-show-like party games that have their male participants go nude. Guys like Fernando Guillén Cuervo and Liberto Rabal liberate themselves from the shackles of clothing and go cock-out for the girls' cameras.
Idiot Love
Let's take in a Catalonian comedy, shall we? Catalan is a region in northeastern Spain that speaks its language, Catalan. In this film, Santi Millán plays a man whose best friend recently died. Grieving and stuck in his existential crisis, he finds a distraction in a young woman named Sandra. She eventually falls for him, too, which is probably because she saw his cock and balls and they looked delicious.
Seriously, he served up his sausage on a plate. Bon appetite! Or should I say: boner-petit? No, that's not right. His chorizo looks long.
He's not the only naked cutie. Gonzalo Cunill sits nude in a rocking chair. His penis will make you rock hard!
