Our Staff Picks column is a new addition that takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version has a decidedly nude angle, as we suss out which films from a certain genre with great nudity. This week: Westerns!
Westerns are one of two great American genres (the other is the musical). Americans invented the Western because, well, the films take place in the American West. Our rugged terrain and 1800s cowboy lifestyles lent their hands to the creation of the genre and the tasty tough guys that we all became privy to.
While most of the great stars of Westerns did not go nude in their films, the genre has continued and the latter films have provided us with nudity to yeehaw over. Check out these Westerns with nudity:
Bone Tomahawk
2015's Bone Tomahawk blends Western and horror for a unique story about four men who rescue some people being held hostage by a mysterious tribe of cave dwellers. In that way, the tribe is almost like some kind of group from The Time Machine. Evan Jonigkeit provides some sexual release when he is stripped bare by the cavemen and hung upside down. Yes, they murder him, but it's hot before that happens.
Lonesome Dove
The Texas Rangers are at it again in this 1989 mini-series about Texans on a cattle drive to the beautiful Montana Territory. The film stars Danny Glover, Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, and D.B. Sweeney but none of them go nude. Instead, gorgeous guy Ricky Schroder dons his chaps and heads out to the river to show cheeky cheeks.
The Power of the Dog
The award-winning Jane Campion film The Power of the Dog took gay cowboys to a whole new level. Benedict Cumberbatch plays a rancher who tells tall tales about the rancher who taught him everything. Jealous of his brother's new marriage, he also makes it his mission to terrorize the new wife and her young gay son. Twists and turns abound in this movie that trickles to a wonderful slow-burn ending. Your pants may trickle when you see Benedict's buns.
Doc
This 1971 film retells some classic Western tales like Wyatt Earp and the O.K. Corral. The gun-slingers are at the center of this story following legendary outlaw John "Doc" Holliday played by Stacy Keach. Stacy Keach briefly bares his buns when he takes a moment to sleep with Faye Dunaway (playing a character named Big Nose Kate) while on his way to Tombstone, Arizona. Giddyup and watch this butt!
Big Kill
A Philly man heads out west to a ghost town called Big Kill. He is a gambler on the run from the law and while he's out in the west he gets his pistol wet. Clint Glenn Hummel bangs a babe against the wall and shows us his Big Ass.
