Elizabeth Taylor stars as Alexandra Del Largo in the boob tube flick Sweet Bird of Youth (1989), a remake of the 1962 film based on the 1959 Tennessee William’s play of the same name. Sweet Bird tells the story of Del Largo, an aging, alcoholic, drug-addled film legend who crosses paths with a fledgling actor, Chance Wayne (Mark Harmon), who is working as a massage therapist. Chance develops a relationship with Alexandra in hopes that her Hollywood connections could open doors for him. He goes as far as bringing Alexandra back to his hometown in an effort to show her off and prove to his former sweetheart, Heavenly Finley (Cheryl Paris), along with all the haters, that he has actually made it in Hollywood. Things don’t go quite as well as he planned when Heavenly’s father, Tom Finley (Rip Torn), the local loud-mouthed politician, along with many mean-spirited dudes in the community, have a bone to pick with Chance that eventually leads to a violent confrontation. The always-handsome Mark Harmon heats up this remake with a satisfying look at his butt and possible pubes when he gets ready to deliver the goods to his old gal pal. We would’ve loved to have seen Harmon’s sweet bird of girth!
