Biography

Anyone who is fond of funny men will be jonsing for Terry Jones. We just love the witty Welshman’s wacky comedy bits — as well as his other bits! While earning a degree from Oxford University, the brainy babe worked with writing partner Michael Palin on English comedy shows (Do Not Adjust Your Set, The Frost Report) before joining Cambridge grads John Cleese, Eric Idle, and Graham Chapman, plus American artist Terry Gilliam, to launch the surreal sketch series Monty Python’s Flying Circus (1969-1974). With Gilliam, Jones co-directed the cult classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975). As the sole director of Monty Python’s Life of Brian (1979), Jones has no one to blame but himself for running buck naked in a scene wherein he bares his back, butt and balls! Since then, Terry directed Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life (1983) and flashed his flesh in the concert flick Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl (1982). As a historian, Jones used his insight and intelligence to write the book “Chaucer’s Knight: The Portrait of a Medieval Mercenary” (1980) and the Emmy-nominated documentary Terry Jones’ Medieval Lives (2004). Whether acting (Jabberwocky), directing (The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles) or writing (Labyrinth), this multi-talented man entertained audiences of all ages via film and TV. Before his death in 2020, the BAFTA Cymru presented Terry with a Lifetime Achievement Award which came with a standing ovation. Of course, Mr. Man has been giving Mr. Jones a standing ovation in his trousers for years!
