The Family Tree (2020)

Panamanian born writer and director Jorge Ameer created the holiday dramedy The Family Tree (2020) as a tribute to his time spent growing up in the Central American country and a legendary holiday tradition. Victor (Keith Roenke) leads a solitary existence working at a local animal shelter by day and pursuing his love of fireworks and all things pyrotechnic in his free time. Since he was a child, he has spent the final weeks of every year creating elaborate, human sized pyrotechnic creations that are designed to be lit off on New Year's Eve to celebrate the end of the year. Something supernatural happens this year, however, when his latest creation comes to life, calling himself Roy (Michael Joseph Nelson). The hunky stranger convinces Victor that he has been brought to life by divine providence to help the unlucky in love fireworks enthusiast finally find a human companion to help him become a more complete human. When Roy meets Alina (Anaïs Lucia), he thinks he may have found Victor's perfect companion, but little does Roy realize that Victor already thinks he's found the right person to spend his life with... and it's him! This love story with a supernatural twist turns out to be a lot sweeter than we initially thought, in more ways that one, especially when we get to the hot gay action between stars Keith Roenke and Michael Joseph Nelson!
