The Kid Detective (2020)

Kids can always get away with doing cute things for extra money.  Lemonade stands, cutting the grass, or even being The Kid Detective!  For Abe Applebaum (Adam Brody), he was a legend around his small town as a "Kid P.I." who would go around and solve minor crimes like missing bikes, stolen mail, or the occasional library book theft.  Just cute as a button that Abe Applebaum at 13 years old ... Smash cut to age 32, Abe is now a fall down drunk who can't seem to slip out of his state of career arrested development, as he is now a grown man who is still solving children's crimes all over town, but it's not cute any more, as most of the town just kind of pities him.  Between his crushing hangovers, solving cases about kittens hiding in tree houses, and his nightly drinks, he finds himself embroiled in an actual "grown-up" case for the first time in his long tenured career as a detective.  He has a legitimate murder fall into his lap and the naive client who brings him the case doesn't seem to know who, what, and why her boyfriend was killed in cold blood in this sleepy little town.  So it's up to a 32 year old drunk with a 13 year old's grasp of the "principles of detection" to comb through the seedy underbelly of his humble burg to find out who killed this guy.  That is if he doesn't drink himself to death with his self-pity first.  Prime example being him waking up butt ass naked in a dumpster, showing off that amazing caboose while crawling out of the filth!
