Biography

Trai Byers was born in Kansas City, Kansas, but spent much of his teen years in Georgia before returning to Kansas to go to college. After receiving his MFA from Yale he moved out to L.A. to pursue acting. Trai’s big break came when he landed a part on the long running soap opera All My Children (1970- 2011). Later he would appear in the Oscar winning film Selma (2014) and the hit TV series Empire (2015 - ).
