Alex Portenko was born in Uzbekistan but moved with his family to Boston when he was just a child. He grew up in Boston and attended Salem State University where he began working regularly in the Boston theater scene, appearing in several productions. After his success on the stage, he moved to Los Angeles to focus his work on movies and TV shows.
