Blackbird (2007)

The gritty romantic drama Blackbird (2007) is set in Manhattan in the mid-1990s and it follows the soon-to-be-doomed relationship between Baylis (Paul Sparks), a Gulf War veteran and Froggy (Gillian Jacobs), an ex-stripper. Throw in the fact that the lovers are heroin addicts, and one can see the narcotic backbone of their relationship is also the catalyst of their downfall. Sometimes the warm fuzziness of love can be stronger than the stupor-like fuzziness of heroin and, at times, Bayliss and Froggy show some hints that their relationship might actually thrive. But the grip of self-destruction proves to be stronger in the end. The heaviness of the flick sure weights down the flesh. Paul Sparks adds a dash of ass while changing his diaper! Okay. Also, Michael Shannon provides a few looks at his ripped body as he babbles with a traumatized chick. Sparks and Shannon will make your bird chirp and chatter!
