Biography

If you can handle a tear or two while admiring a hot body (and remember “it’s only acting, it’s only acting”), then you deserve the spoils of David Keith’s bare-ass acting when he plays Sid Worley in An Officer and a Gentleman (1982) with Richard Gere. A little depressing, a little nudity, and a breakthrough role for David, who earned two Golden Globe nominations for his part, one for New Star of the Year in a Motion Picture, and one for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. While an important gig, it actually wasn’t the first one for this Tennessee native, who was usually cast with his twangy accent in tact. His first feature film was playing Mal in The Rose (1979) with Bette Midler, followed by one as Red Pettus in The Great Santini (1979) with Robert Duvall. He’s since appeared in mostly movies (over 70 of them), with a few TV series thrown in just to prove he’s as hot on the little screen as on the big one. Memorable roles include Andrew McGee in Firestarter (1984) with a very young Drew Barrymore, Loach in The Two Jakes (1990) directed by and starring Jack Nicholson, Jack Parkman in Major League II (1994) with Charlie Sheen, Boone in Frank Oz’s The Indian in the Cupboard(1995), Captain Hartigan in Men of Honor (2000) with Robert De Niro, Coonan in U-571 (2000) with Matthew McConaughey, O’Malley in Behind Enemy Lines (2001) with Gene Hackman, Jack Murdock in Daredevil (2003) with Ben Affleck, and, of course, Simon Fletcher in Raise Your Voice (2004) with Hilary Duff. What can Mr. Man say? The man has taste.
