Deadcon (2019)

An evil entity is targeting social media influencers in the meta-horror flick Deadcon (2019). Mixing actual actors and actresses with big-name Youtubers, the film follows a gang of internet personalities who descend upon a conference called Viewcom to push their "brand" even further. Unfortunately, AKAshley (Lauren Elizabeth) can't get a hotel room at the event, so the hotel checks her into a room with a dark history that they really don't book anymore. As Ashley and her friend Megan (Claudia Sulewski) meet and greet tons of their adoring 4 million+ subscribers, the terror begins to unfold, and it's not just about how many views she's getting in comparison to Megan's jerk boyfriend Ricky (Lukas Gage). Don't worry Megan gets her kicks in with side piece hottie Dave (Keith Machenkanyanga), both of whom have some shirtless good times in this one. But Ashley's love triangle is the least of her problems when she starts noticing all the creepy stuff in her room. She'll film the whole thing, of course, only to realize far too late that the evil entity is using the internet to get to her! The bodies start piling up, the reaction videos start getting filmed, and all our content creators become content to get out of there alive! Expect lots of jokes found footage style vlogging and jokes in the comment section in this flick that critics didn't think did enough with the social media angle. We don't care if you smash that subscribe button. All we care about is how smashable Lukas Gage and Keith Machekanyanga are in the movie! Lukas is a legit actor from stuff like The White Lotus and Euphoria, but he'd easily have hit it big as one of those sexy Tik Tok dance boys if he'd wanted to. We see him in a towel dancing and spraying his junk with cologne, and even if things stay PG-13 his abs are defined enough to go viral. Keith's a real movie star too, all the way from Zimbabwe. We get to watch him get out of bed shirtless and show his lean and mean body! If only these drop-dead sexy boys were a bit more hub than tube in Deadcon!
