Biography

What were you doing when you were ten years old? Were you hanging out on the set of a Bruce Willis action film? No? That’s what Edwin Hodge was doing. The North Carolina native grabbed the role of Dexter’s friend in Die Hard: With a Vengeance, and a career was born. (His brother, actor Aldis Hodge, was also in the flick.) From there, he earned a steady stream of roles in movies like The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996), and Big Momma’s House (1999), and even steadier gigs on TV, in primetimes programs like 7th HeavenAngelGrounded For Life, and Any Day Now. His first regular role was playing Jamaal Crenshaw in Boston Public from 2000-2002. As an official adult, one of his first major feature films was playing Joe in The Alamo (2004), starring Dennis Quaid and Billy Bob Thornton. The 5’10” hunk also continued to kick ass on the little screen, scoring regular roles on Jack and Bobby from 2004-2005, Invasion in 2006, Mental in 2009, and Cougar Townfrom 2012-2013. He played a character named Danny in both the movies Red Dawn (2012) with Chris Hemsworth, and Bumblebee (2018) with John Cena. You can also catch him as a stranger in The Purge(2013), The Purge: Anarchy (2014), and as Dante Bishop in The Purge: Election Year (2016). Edwin has a lot of career, and a lot of parts to cover, so Mr. Man is just going to say he’s all over TV, and all over the movies. The one more you should know about, though? Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, an HBOMax series. He portrays real-life NBA player Ron Boone, and if the camera guy would have dropped the lens an inch (seriously, just an inch) lower, we would have had a full-frontal, nude shot of Edwin in a locker-room scene. As it is, we get his bare muscly chest, thick V-lines, and the top of his manly bush. Take that, Bruce Willis!
