Now that all of the kids who grew up reading his best selling Goosebumps series are adults with kids of their own, author R.L. Stine is now crafting tales of terror for the adult set! Fear Street Part Two: 1978 (2021) is the second of three adaptations of Stine's novels that steamed up Netflix in the summer of 2021! Set in the titular year when Halloween (1978) was released, the film takes a decidedly slasher bent to tell the story of a girl named Ziggy (Sadie Sink) who attends summer camp at Camp Nightwing. Ziggy is from the town of Shadyside, whereas the bulk of the people at the camp are from neighboring rival town Sunnyvale, putting her immediately at odds with Sheila (Chiara Aurelia) the alpha dog of the Sunnyvale crew. Taking plenty of inspiration from the many summer camp slasher flicks of the 80s, the film is basically your typical slasher in that same vein as the randy teens are killed off one by one. As in the first Fear Street flick, it centers around an ancient curse placed on the town during the mid-17th century—which is when the third film is set—and the race against time to try and break the curse and save the horny teens... won't someone think of the horny teens?! You might get a little horny yourself when you see the barely legal bare buns of both Sam Brooks and Michael Provost as they bang their respective ladies in a pair of gratuitous sex scenes right out of the 80s... only this time, the pendulum is swinging in the other direction, showing more male nudity than female nudity! All slasher flick should be so considerate!
