Chicago native Jim Belushi is a staple to the Paris of the Midwest, but he's also essential to our viewing pleasure. The funny man got his start acting at Second City in The Windy City before being called to Hollywood by Garry Marshall to co-star as Bert Gunkel in the TV series Who's Watching The Kids from 1978-1979. He moved on to Working Stiffs in 1979, then hit Saturday Night Live in New York from 1983-1985. With his comedic chops firmly established, he went on to show off the rest of his acting skills, earning fame and recognition for his role as Bernie in About Last Night… (1986) with Rob Lowe and Demi Moore. The part was a snap for Jim, who originated the role in David Mamet’s play Sexual Perversity in Chicago. He went on to appear in a flurry of movies through the rest of the ‘80s, and straight through the early ‘90s. A few choice flicks include Jumpin’ Jack Flash (1986), Little Shop of Horrors (1986), Who’s Harry Crumb? (1989), the John Hughes film Curly Sue (1991), and Eugene Levy’s Once Upon a Crime (1992). He’s also co-starred in numerous movies with Arnold Schwarzenegger and John Candy, as well as other SNL alum. For the movie Gang Related (1997), co-starring Tupac Shakur, his burly chest and beefy bod are on display in a post-coital bedroom scene, making Mr. Man suddenly want to own a teddy bear. Back on TV, Jim has been featured in several roles, but is perhaps best known for his star turn in his own sitcom, playing Jim in According to Jim from 2001-2009. And, yes, he’s the younger brother of John.
