Long before he became a fixture of the Australian comedy scene, multi-hyphenate hottie John Doyle worked as a high school teacher and then turned to acting, appearing on stage with companies including the Sydney Theatre Company. His career changed for good after meeting fellow performer Greig Pickhaver in 1985. Doyle created the comedically self-important former sportsman character “Rampaging” Roy Slaven, while Pickhaver became H.G. Nelson, launching one of Australian broadcasting’s longest-running comedy partnerships.
