After watching The Beastmaster (1982), Mr. Man think loincloths should be required wearing—at least when you have a body like Marc Singer. Tall, fully muscled yet lean without any unnecessary excessive bulges, he’s the long, cool drink of water when you’ve been stuck in the desert for ages. It’s his chest, his stomach, his thighs, his arms—all of it, total package. Lucky for us they made a Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time(1991), then moved his fine ass to TV for Beastmaster III: The Eye of Braxus (1996) and a short-lived series, BeastMaster in 2001; Marc was in all of them, continuing the journey of his character Dartanus. But Marc’s acting repertoire goes beyond the loincloth, and he’s got a whole slew of credits. He was born into a family of performers, his father a symphony conductor and his mother a concert pianist. The man himself made his on-screen acting debut playing a Young TV Doctor (his official credit) on an episode of Columbo in 1973. He made his way through multiple primetime TV shows and appeared in numerous TV movies. He was cast as Andy Warner in the mini-series Roots: The Next Generation (1979), and played Wesley Miles in the TV movie Paper Dolls (1982) (included here because it’s a Mr. Man favorite—The drama! The Glamour! The ‘80s!). Marc also nabbed the role of Mike Donovan in the uber-popular mini-series V (1983), which spurned V: The Final Battle(1984), and V the TV series from 1984-1985. From there, the born-Canadian kept up a steady stream of roles. He was Commander Steve Krieger in Dead Space (1991) with Bryan Cranston, an explosive developer in Eagle Eye (2008) with Shia LaBeouf, and the lead in a few late-night cable movies where his pained O-face can be witnessed amongst bare asses and bare tits. A few last facts? He was General Matthew Shrieve in Arrow in 2015, Peter Braxton in Beauty and the Beast in 2016, and his sister is Lori Singer, aka Ariel in Footloose.
