OJ: The Musical (2013)

Brief Nudity

Review

The quirky comedy OJ: The Musical (2013) follows Eugene Olivier (Jordan Kenneth Kamp), a mildly successful theater artist dwelling in NYC, where he has spent the last decade successfully honing the art of making musicals. While others in Eugene’s position would be grateful to continue to ride the wave of success, the finicky actor finds himself longing for the good ol’ days where he and his buddies would put shows together back home in Ohio. On a whim, Eugene heads to LA to surprise his two best buds from childhood, Lawrence (Malcolm Barrett) and Regina (Larisa Oleynik), and try to convince them to rediscover their decades old passion for theater. After some cajoling, the ambitious dude convinces his friends to help him put together his next big show—an OJ Simpson musical loosely based off of Shakespeare’s “Othello.” What seems so simple soon turns into a mess, and Eugene comes to the realization that a musical based off of the running back-turned-double murderer might not be as easy as he once thought. Between all the awkwardness and laughs, we get a generous does of buns from Jordan Kenneth Kamp. Mr. Man would love to go Kamping!
