Out in the Dark (2012)

No matter where you live, chances are a lot is going in the dark. The proof is on the big and small screens — from the Hollywood classic Dark Victory (1939) to the Mexican sagas Dark Forces (2020) and Dark Desire (2020-2022), with the Australian flick Dark City (1998), the American reboot Dark Shadows (2012) and the Polish pic Dark Crimes (2016) in between. Of course, we can’t forget Israel’s Out in the Dark (2013). Under the direction of Michael Mayer, the romantic drama follows Nimr Mashrawi (Nicholas Jacob), a Palestinian graduate student in psychology. When he crosses paths with Roy Scheffer (Michael Aloni), a well-connected Israeli attorney working for his father’s law firm, the two instantly fall in lust with each other. As their relationship heats up, an Israeli security force threatens to blackmail Nimir by revealing his sexuality to his family (many of whom are part of an extremist rebel movement) unless he collaborates with them. Roy attempts to use the law to save his lover, but his success depends on Nimir’s wiliness to embrace his sexuality. Speaking of, Mr. Jacob and Mr. Aloni steam up the lens when the topless hotties share a sizzling kiss in bed. If that’s not titillating enough, the two studs strip down to their undies to go for a late night swim. Needless to say, the sexy sight may make you splash your pants! Although this foreign-language film features Arabic and Hebrew dialogue, we’re left a little speechless whenever the actors flash their flesh!
