Before director Steven Soderbergh professionally hooked up with actors George Clooney and Don Cheadle for the heist comedies Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), the trio collaborated on the romantic thriller Out of Sight (1998). Based on Elmore Leonard’s 1996 novel of the same name, this R-rated flick follows career bank robber Jack Foley (Clooney). While being sprung from prison with the help of his friend Buddy Bragg (Ving Rhames), Jack is confronted by US Marshal Karen Sisco (Jennifer Lopez). Buddy quickly interferes and bundles both Jack and Karen into the trunk of the getaway car and takes off. During their close confinement, the caustic couple begins to form a bond. When Jack’s getaway is complete, he heads off with his partners in crime to Detroit to take part in a lucrative diamond heist. With Karen hot on his tail, he and she eventually become involved in a cat and mouse chase that could either lead to love or an arrest. Of course, George proves he’s an arresting guy when he struts his stuff in his boxer shorts. If that’s not arousing enough, the handsome hunk flashes his fabulous abs. No doubt, this skintastic sight helped the pic win Best Film, Best Director (Soderbergh) and Best Screenplay (Scott Frank) at the National Society of Film Critics Awards. Clooney and Lopez also nabbed a nomination for Best Kiss from the MTV Movie Awards. Last but not least, this flick’s shirtless leading man earned a statuette in Mr. Man’s pants!
